Raja Maha Vihara cave :: Sri Lanka Ceylon

This Vihara known in ancient terms as the Jambukollena Vihara is situated on top of a rock. Here are cave inscriptions of the 2nd Century BC. The largest cave carries some 48 statues of Buddha alone, with statues of some Hindu gods, Vishnu and Saman. The images are carved out of the living rock.
